Pop culture makes it clear that the future isn’t looking bright, and a dystopian world ruled by megacorporations is approaching with unstoppable force. Showgunners immerses players into this grim reality, where you step into the shoes of a participant in a bloody reality show – Homicidal All-Stars, one of the most-watched programs in the world. You play as Scarlett Martillo, entering the show and risking your own life in search of revenge.
Showgunners is a tactical turn-based game in which each level has been carefully designed to provide the most satisfying challenges, all within the context of a brutal reality show. Scarlett won’t be the only character you control, as the rules of the program involve battles featuring entire groups of mercenaries seeking quick money, fame, or the fulfillment of their twisted fantasies in the arenas. Each participant has their own goal, but in reality, only the show’s director gets what he wants – record-high audience ratings.
The path to justice, revenge (and fame) will be long and dangerous, and filled not only with psychopathic murderers, but also deadly traps and other challenges lurking in the urban maze of a cyberpunk city. Every success will push you forward – not only in the direction of your ultimate goal but also towards the support of the most generous sponsors. The rules are as simple as the show: more money equals more resources, allowing your team to acquire better gear, tactical options, and skills. Money means life – whether you like it or not.
